Living In Uncertainty

Dear Friend,

It's good to be back with you. Today I would like to talk to you about living in uncertainty.  You see friend we like to believe we have it all figured out. Today’s schedule, tomorrow’s meetings, this weekends road trip, our children’s play dates, next years vacation. We plan-organize-we write it down-add it to our planners-after all like the worlds latest cliche “we got this.”

Personally friend I have never been one to enjoy cliches, in fact I down right despise them. Partly because they are wrapped up in lies-I mean do we really "have this?" Do we really have anything, or are we  just grasping-longing, yearning to have it all figured, planned and mapped out. An illusion of sorts that we are in control.

If we are honest we really don’t have a clue from one day to the next what actually could transpire. Our days may go on and on without a single bump in the road. Until one day something  interrupts our every so carefully laid plans. Perhaps an unexpected event like your child having the sniffles causing you to have to keep them home from school and miss work. Or it could be something more drastic like a cancer diagnosis- for ourselves-or a dear loved one.

It could be a car accident or a job loss. It could be a burnt meal or a failed presentation at work. It could be a spouse asking for a divorce. Or maybe a call from a friend asking for help because her child has run away.

The point is we never know what life holds for us- no matter how tightly we hold to what we plan-expect and look for in life.

I believe if we allow ourselves to become aware of the truth of uncertainty without something to hold on to-someone to hold on to we may become paralyzed in fear-unable to go about our day lives because we are always wondering-questioning-looking for that next ball to drop.

When something does happen to us, as it always does we are often knocked down, angry, frustrated, even the simplest of things can get in our way and cause us to melt down or lash out.

For some the fear of the unknown causes torment preventing them from reaching-striving and going for their dreams or even just getting out of old patterns that no longer serve them. Many stay stuck-afraid of the uncertain.

But who do we turn to-who can we trust-what can we do so as to not get lost in the fears of uncertainty? How can we balance ourselves in such an uncertain world?

Well friend I know someone who we can trust, someone who never changes and is always available to us no matter what we experience or face. That one is Jesus Christ. "He is the same  yesterday and today and forever." Hebrews 13:8

You see friend when we know Jesus, when we truly know Him, believe in Him and stand in His Truth we can face life-with all its ups, downs and uncertainties. The Lord Jesus doesn't change with the times, He doesn't give us cliches or tell us one thing today and something else tomorrow.

Psalm 33:11 "The counsel of the Lord stands forever, the plans of His heart to all generations." "His Word is timeless and His Promises are Everlasting."

Jesus Christ is the one certainty that we can hold on to in all the uncertainty
of this life. It is the relationship we hold with our God-with our Lord-with our Rock that grounds us, gives us courage and urges us to go on when we feel we can not.

When our schedules fall apart, when our planners no longer hold us together because the uncertainties have forced us in another direction we can count on our God.

Psalm 18:2  The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer, my God, my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.

Learning to stand on the Word of God frees us from the fears uncertainty has bound us to. When we let our fears go and fully submit to His Word-His Truth we know that no matter what may happen, what may transpire we can count on Him to carry us through.

Friend if you don't know Jesus-if you have never called upon the name of Jesus to forgive your sins and come into your heart I urge you today to do just that.
1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.

Don't let another day go by living in the uncertainties of this life without knowing the certainty of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Be strong and courageous, do not be terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you everywhere you go. He will never leave you or forsake you.
Deuteronomy 31:6

Till Next Time-L
